Thermal mass flow

What is a Thermal Mass Flow Meter?

A Thermal Mass Flow Meter measures the flow rate of gases in various industrial processes. It not only measures the volume of gas flowing through but also has high efficiency and can be used across multiple industries by utilizing heat transfer principles. This involves two heated sensors installed within the gas stream, one providing constant heating while the other measures the temperature of the passing gas. The change in temperature indicates the flow rate of the gas.

  1. Heated Sensor - This sensor provides constant heat and measures the temperature of the flowing gas.
  2. Reference Sensor - This sensor measures the temperature of the gas before it is heated.

The difference in temperature between these two sensors is converted into an electrical signal that can directly calculate the flow rate of the gas.

Benefits of a Thermal Mass Flow Meter

  • High accuracy in measuring gas flow rates.
  • Durable and requires minimal maintenance.
  • Easy to install and use.
  • Can measure gas flow in conditions with varying temperatures and pressures.
  • High energy efficiency, saving power.

Applications of Thermal Mass Flow Meter in Industries

  • Chemical Industry - Used to measure gas flow rates used in chemical production processes.
  • Used for controlling gas flow rates in power plants and renewable energy systems within the energy industry.
  • Used to monitor gas flow rates during food and beverage production processes in the food and beverage industry.
  • Used for measuring and controlling gas flows in refining and natural gas management processes within the oil and gas industry.
  • Used to control gas flow rates used in pharmaceutical production processes in the pharmaceutical industry.
