What is a Selector Switch?

A Selector Switch, also known as a selector switch, is an electrical control device that uses a rotary switch to select operating conditions in an electrical control system. It can be used for selecting modes of operation, turning circuits on and off, or switching motor directions. Selector switches are typically installed in control panels alongside push buttons.

Types of Selector Switches (Based on Rotary Position)

• 2-Position (e.g., ON / OFF)
• 3-Position (e.g., AUTO / OFF / MANUAL or FORWARD / STOP / REVERSE)
• Momentary Type, returns to the original position after release
• Maintained Type, stays in the selected position until switched again

General Components of a Selector Switch

• Knob, which can be smooth, with a handle, or key-operated (Key Switch)
• Contacts that can be NO (Normally Open), NC (Normally Closed), or a combination of both
• Mounting hole size, typically Ø22 mm or Ø16 mm
