Fieldbus components

What are Fieldbus Components?

Fieldbus components are signal connection devices that include controllers (Controllers/Gateways) used to communicate with other devices through various communication methods such as Profibus, Profinet, DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, EtherCAT or Modbus TCP/IP.

Components of Fieldbus Components

  • Fieldbus Master (Master Controller) is responsible for controlling and managing communication in the Fieldbus network. It typically takes the form of a PLC or DCS that commands all devices within the network to operate.
  • Fieldbus Slave (Field Device) consists of field devices that receive instructions from the Fieldbus Master and send back measurement data or operational status.
  • Power Supplies (Power Supply) are used to provide power to devices in the Fieldbus network, ensuring continuous operation.
  • Gateways are used to connect the Fieldbus network with other networks such as Ethernet or central control systems.
  • Fieldbus Cables (Signal Wires) are used for connecting various devices within the network and can transmit data and power simultaneously through a single cable.
  • Connectors and Termination Terminals are used for connecting electrical wires and signals, including terminating Fieldbus cables to prevent signal leakage.

Advantages of Fieldbus Components:

  • Data and power can be transmitted over the same wire, reducing installation complexity.
  • High data transmission speed and ability to transmit data from multiple devices in a single network.
  • High accuracy and stability in controlling the operation of various devices during production processes.
