3D sensors are tri-functional sensors used for three-dimensional detection, capable of measuring volume, level, and distance of objects or environments. This provides highly accurate data recognition and analysis capabilities.
How do 3D sensors work?
Stereo Vision is a type of 3D sensor that uses two cameras to capture images from different angles to determine the depth between objects and the sensor, through comparison.
Time-of-Flight (ToF) measures distance using infrared or laser light by calculating the time it takes for light to reach an object and return. This allows calculation of distance or depth based on travel time.
Structured Light sensors project a patterned light (such as grids or lines) onto objects and use a camera to capture changes in the pattern caused by the object, to calculate depth.
Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) sends out laser signals and measures distance between the sensor and an object by calculating the time it takes for light to travel to and from the object.
