Suspended Solids / TSS / MLSS Meter is What?

Suspended Solids / TSS / MLSS Meters are fully known as Suspended Solids Meter, Total Suspended Solids Meter, and Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids Meter respectively. They are devices used to measure the amount of solids suspended in water or other liquids. The measured values indicate the quantity of non-dissolved particles dispersed within the liquid, expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L). The working principle depends on the technology employed such as

• Optical Sensors which use light to measure the scattering and absorption of suspended particles in water. Light is transmitted through the liquid, and the scattering or absorption is measured, then converted into a concentration value for suspended solids.
• Ultrasonic Sensors that use sound waves to detect reflections from particles in water. Sound waves reflect back when they encounter particles, and the sensor measures the intensity of the reflected sound to calculate the concentration of suspended solids.
