What is an ACB breaker?

ACB stands for Air Circuit Breaker (ACB). It is a protective device for large electrical systems, designed to interrupt electrical circuits when abnormalities occur, such as short circuits or overloads. Its main feature is the use of air as an arc quenching medium during circuit interruption.

  • Main Contacts: Main Current Carrying Contacts
  • Trip Unit: The control unit that commands circuit interruption upon detecting abnormalities (highly adjustable)
  • Mechanism: Spring mechanism for switching on/off circuits (usually includes a crank handle for charging the spring, or Charging Handle)
