Low voltage MCCB

What is a Low Voltage MCCB?

Low voltage MCCB (MCCB breaker) stands for Molded Case Circuit Breaker, which is a circuit breaker designed for low-voltage electrical systems up to 1,000 volts (as per IEC 60947-2 standard). It is used for switching circuits on and off, as well as protecting against overcurrent and short-circuit conditions. MCCB breakers are commonly found in industrial plants and large buildings.

Main Functions of Low Voltage MCCB (MCCB Breaker)

The molded case circuit breaker performs the same electrical protection functions as general circuit breakers but with higher durability, allowing for long-term use and cost savings in factories. The protection provided includes prevention of two types of events:

  • Overload cuts the circuit when the current exceeds the set limit.
  • Short Circuit immediately cuts the circuit upon occurrence of a severe short-circuit (in the range of thousands of amps).
