Full Metal Proximity Sensor (proximity sensor) is a highly accurate sensor for detecting metal objects. The full metal proximity sensors from ifm are constructed entirely of metal, making them robust and capable of withstanding various environmental conditions to ensure optimal performance. Therefore, SCMA comes equipped with 4 testing methods to demonstrate their strength and effectiveness in using the Full Metal Proximity Sensor from the ifm brand.
Full Metal Proximity Sensor Testing
Scratch and Abrasion Resistance Testing
When the Full Metal Proximity Sensor (proximity sensor) is exposed to weld spatter, cleaning can be done using abrasive materials to remove the debris. However, in general proximity sensor testing, they can withstand up to 50,000 abrasion cycles before showing signs of wear on the surface. In ifm's Full Metal Proximity Sensor tests, even after one million cycles, there are no clear signs of wear and tear on the surface, allowing it to continue functioning normally.
Temperature Shock Resistance Testing
This test evaluates the sensor’s ability to withstand extreme temperature changes (Temperature Shock Test). The Full Metal Proximity Sensors are submerged in boiling water at 100°C and then alternately dipped into ice-cold water at 0°C, repeating this process up to 50 times with each cycle lasting for 20 minutes. After completing the test, the Full Metal Proximity Sensors still function normally.
Vibration Resistance Testing
The vibration resistance testing of proximity sensors is conducted by applying a force of approximately 1,000 grams to create continuous vibrations over one million cycles. Following this test, the Full Metal Proximity Sensor remains fully operational and ready for use.
Impact Resistance Testing
To test the impact resistance of proximity sensors, a steel block is used to strike the sensor surface 500,000 times. After testing, the proximity sensor can still be used normally. In comparison, general proximity sensors can only withstand up to 30,000 impacts. This makes ifm's Full Metal Proximity Sensor highly efficient for industrial applications.

Therefore, it is evident that ifm's Full Metal Proximity Sensor or proximity sensor can perform well and efficiently in industrial applications, which is a crucial factor for elevating the performance of Industry 4.0.
