What is Sigfox?
Sigfox technology was developed in 2009, starting in France. It is a communication technology designed to support various IoT (Internet of Things) devices and applications. As IoT technologies and devices have rapidly evolved, developers recognized the importance of developing an efficient data communication network for IoT devices to accommodate future usage and expansion.
Sigfox is based on LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) technology. This low-energy communication method can transmit data over a distance of up to 40 kilometers from the Base Station, with small but highly efficient data transmission formats. These features are crucial for IoT device development.
Sigfox uses radio frequency (D-BPSK modulation) in the 868 – 923 MHz band, which varies according to regional standards across six zones—RC1-RC6. Currently, Sigfox has a network covering over 40 countries worldwide, ensuring high performance.
