How a Hot Air Heater Works
A hot air heater operates on the principle of converting electrical energy into thermal energy using electric resistance heating elements. Heat is transferred through stainless steel tubes and fins to the air flowing through it.
In operation, the blower directs airflow through the heater assembly. As the air comes in contact with the high-temperature surface of the heater, heat transfer occurs, raising the temperature of the air before it is delivered to the work area.
The performance depends on wattage, heater surface area, airflow rate, incoming air temperature, and system installation characteristics.
Stainless Steel Finned Heating Element
The hot air heater uses a stainless steel fin heating element. The fins increase the surface area for heat transfer from the heater to the air.
Increasing the surface area helps ensure proper heat exchange for systems with air flow through the heater, where the size and shape of fins must be designed to match electrical power and airflow volume.
Even though the heater has fins to help dissipate heat, it is still necessary to allow sufficient air flow as specified by the manufacturer to avoid abnormally high temperature accumulation.
Structure and Installation with Blower
The heater features a stainless steel structure and flanges for installation with a blower according to catalog data. The flange configuration and mounting size must be compatible with the selected air delivery equipment.
The design should consider airflow volume, static pressure, pressure loss through the heater, and desired air temperature to ensure proper system operation.
Temperature sensors and overheat protection devices should be positioned in relation to the direction of airflow and the location of the heater.
Application in Paint Drying
The hot air blower can be used as a heat source for paint drying systems, delivering warm air through areas requiring moisture reduction or aiding in the drying process under appropriate conditions.
The temperature and duration of heating must be set according to the type of paint, workpiece material, and production process requirements.
For paints or coatings that release flammable vapors, the risk of flammable atmosphere should be assessed, and a heating system designed and certified for use in such areas should be used. General-purpose electric heaters should not be directly employed.
Application in Shrink Film Processing
The Hot Air Heater can be applied to provide warm air to shrink film according to material characteristics, suitable for designing hot air systems in packaging applications requiring controlled heat.
Air temperature, volume, and contact time should be selected appropriately based on the type of film to avoid uneven shrinking or damage to products.
Custom Made Hot Air Heater
SANGI ELECTRIC supports custom-made Hot Air Heaters according to design samples by specifying details for heating system requirements and installation space constraints.
