How Circulation Heater Works

The circulation heater operates on the principle of heating liquid while it flows through a system. The heating element converts electrical energy into heat which is then transferred to the flowing liquid in the heated area.

As the liquid receives heat, its temperature increases according to the heater's wattage, flow rate, specific heat capacity of the liquid and thermal losses of the system.

The design must consider a relationship between flow rate and wattage to achieve desired temperatures while preventing overheating in the heating element area.

Fuel Oil Preheating Application

Circulation Heater is suitable for warming up the furnace oil to meet the required temperature before it enters the combustion system or equipment that requires high-temperature furnace oil.

Warming up the furnace oil can help improve its flow characteristics in the system. The appropriate temperature must be determined based on the type of furnace oil, viscosity, and requirements of the receiving equipment.

The selection should consider the properties of the furnace oil such as viscosity, recommended operating temperature, and safety limitations to prevent overheating beyond the fluid's and system’s suitability.

Usage with Circulating Fluids

In addition to furnace oil, heaters can be designed for heating other circulating fluids in industrial systems. Compatibility between the fluid and contacting materials must be checked along with thermal conditions of the system.

The design should consider properties such as density, specific heat, viscosity, corrosion potential, and risk of degradation when heated.

It is not advisable to assume that all types of heaters are compatible with every type of oil or chemical without verifying manufacturer specifications.

Design Based on Temperature and Flow Rate

The catalog specifies that the product can be designed to suit specific temperature and flow rate requirements for fluids. Therefore, heater selection should use real system data for design purposes.

Important information includes inlet temperature, required outlet temperature, flow rate, system pressure, and fluid properties.

For continuous operation systems, heat load at the lowest and highest flow rates must be evaluated to ensure safe operation with control systems.

Installation with Production Pipeline Systems

Circulation Heater can be designed for installation into production pipeline systems by defining connection types, flow direction, mounting positions, and maintenance space suitable for the system.

The pressure rating of components, sealing materials, and connections must be verified to accommodate actual operating temperature and pressure conditions. Expansion due to heat should also be considered in piping.

Temperature Control System

The use of Circulation Heater should include an appropriate temperature control system and sensors for monitoring fluid temperature according to production process requirements.

For work involving abnormally high temperature risks, a separate overheating protection system should be installed outside the normal control circuit, including a flow or pump operation check before allowing power to the heater.

Temperature Controller, Flow Switch and other protective devices must be verified as within the delivery scope or additional items to procure.
