Infrared Radiant Heating
Ceramic plate infrared heaters convert electrical energy into heat and emit infrared radiation from the heater surface to transfer heat energy to the surface of the workpiece.
They can be used in processes such as paint curing, drying, or forming materials that require localized heating. The heating effect depends on the installation distance, number of heaters, surface temperature, workpiece material, and system design.
Rear Thermal Insulation
The AWI-Series is a model with thermal insulation on the back side of the heater plate, which helps reduce heat loss to the back side and improves the efficiency of the heating system design.
Installation must also allow for spacing from other equipment and flammable materials according to the manufacturer's specifications, as the heater and surrounding structure can reach high temperatures during operation.
Built-in Temperature Sensor (Thermocouple Type K)
The INFRAPARA AWI-1 heater comes with a Type K thermocouple for measuring the internal temperature of the heater, which can be used with a temperature controller that supports Type K sensors.
The temperature control system should include a power switching device, such as an SSR or contactor, properly selected in rating, along with an over-temperature protection system, to ensure safe and appropriate operation for the production process.
The total number of wires is 4, consisting of the power circuit and the temperature measurement circuit. However, before connecting, you must check the wire colors and connectors according to the actual product's wiring diagram. Do not assign wire functions based solely on color or number of wires.
Electric Power and Power Supply
The heater has a rated power of 1000W at 220VAC. According to the SCMA product data, the current is approximately 4.5A for operation at the rated power.
When installing multiple heaters in a machine, the total load should be calculated, and the wiring, protective devices, and switching equipment should be selected appropriately for the actual current usage, taking into account the installation area temperature.
Paint Curing and Drying
It is suitable for use in automotive paint curing, metal paint curing, and workpiece drying applications. The temperature, curing time, distance from the workpiece, and number of heaters should be appropriately set according to the properties of the materials and paints used.
For applications involving flammable vapors or explosive areas, the equipment and system should be selected and designed according to the safety requirements of the area. General-purpose heaters should not be used in such areas without proper evaluation and certification.
Plastic Thermoforming
The infrared ceramic heater can be used as a heat source for the plastic thermoforming process by transferring heat from the heater plate to increase the temperature of the plastic sheet before forming.
The position and number of heaters should be designed to ensure even temperature distribution according to the size and type of plastic, to avoid excessive heating in certain areas.
Applications
- Automotive Paint Curing Machine
- Metal Paint Curing Machine
- Industrial Workpiece Drying Machine
- Plastic Thermoforming Machine
- InfraRed Heating in Production Line

Installation Precautions
- Check the voltage rating before powering the heater
- Select the wire size and protective devices appropriate for the load current
- Use heat-resistant wires and connectors suitable for the installation temperature
- Check the power wires and thermocouple according to the manufacturer's manual before connecting the circuit
- Control the temperature with a device that supports Thermocouple Type K
- Provide a high-temperature protection system according to the machine's risk
- Install with a distance from flammable materials and non-heat-resistant parts
- Prevent contact with the heater surface during operation or after turning the machine off
- Avoid shocks that may cause the ceramic plate to crack
- Turn off the power supply and wait for the heater to cool down before maintenance
- Check the insulation and connecting wires before each use
