What is an Inductive Proximity Sensor?

When a metal object comes near the sensor, it induces eddy currents that cause changes which can be detected as the metal being in close proximity to the sensor.

• An Inductive Proximity Sensor is often used to detect objects at short distances such as checking if metal parts are in the correct position during production. It does not come into direct contact with the object, thus having a long service life.
