Working Principle of Diaphragm Solenoid Valve

Main Components

• Solenoid Coil (Electromagnetic Wire Winding): Creates a magnetic field when electric current flows through it.
• Plunger (Movable Iron Rod): Lifted or lowered by the magnetic field.
• Diaphragm (Flexible Rubber/Silicone Sheet): Opens and closes fluid pathways.
• Pilot Port (Pressure Control Port): A small port that helps control pressure on both sides of the diaphragm.

Operation Mode

Normal Closed (NC) – Normally Closed

• No electricity → Plunger closes pilot port → Water pressure on both sides of the diaphragm is equal → Diaphragm keeps valve closed.
• Electricity supplied → Plunger is lifted by magnetic field → Opens pilot port → Pressure above the diaphragm decreases → Fluid from below pushes diaphragm up → Valve opens.

Normal Open (NO) – Normally Open

• The principle is similar but reversed in terms of pressure → When no electricity, valve is open; when electricity supplied, valve closes.
