Working Principle of Diaphragm Solenoid Valve

Main Components

• Solenoid Coil (Electromagnetic Wire Winding): Creates a magnetic field when electric current flows through it.
• Plunger (Movable Iron Rod): Moves up and down with the magnetic field.
• Diaphragm (Flexible Rubber/Silicone Sheet): Opens or closes the fluid passage.
• Pilot Port (Pressure Control Port): A small port that helps control pressure on both sides of the diaphragm.

Operation Mode

Normal Closed (NC) – Normally Closed

• No electricity → Plunger closes pilot port → Pressure on both sides of the diaphragm is equal → Diaphragm closes the valve.
• Electricity applied → Plunger is pulled up → Pilot port opens → Pressure above the diaphragm decreases → Fluid from below pushes the diaphragm up → Valve opens.

Normal Open (NO) – Normally Open

• The principle is similar but reversed in terms of pressure → When there's no electricity, the valve is open; when electricity is applied, the valve closes.
